Tax avoidance, not tax evasion. It’s a vital distinction.
Tax evasion is not only illegal but is also (in our opinion) immoral.
What Phoenix are passionate about is tax avoidance. It’s a very different concept, one which aims to minimise tax – that is, to avoid paying unnecessary taxes.
We achieve this through keeping ourselves up-to-date with legislation and government-backed tax breaks, careful structuring of businesses and working with, not shying away from, HMRC.
Established in 2009, our business has grown – and continues to grow – year-on-year, with new clients seeking us out through the recommendation of others. We’re a friendly, approachable team and pride ourselves in efficient but personal service.
Our supporting IT platform dovetails with yours – whether you work with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Excel spreadsheets or pen and paper!
We use IT systems to streamline our service to you, rather than rely on it to ‘number-crunch’.
Who are the tax specialists who will help you to minimise tax?
Director: Nick Williams, ATT CTA Cert PFS
Nick has a long track record as a tax specialist. He has numerous, progressive qualifications to his name dating from 2002. He has spent many years helping clients to minimise tax liabilities, including roles with Royal Bank of Canada, HBOS, Kleinwort Benson and KPMG. Among his experience is advising high net worth non-UK domiciled Britons.
In 2009 he established the original ‘Phoenix’ to focus on providing high level tax planning to smaller clients.
Nick takes delight in getting to know clients’ individual circumstances so he can help them to structure their finances in the most tax-efficient ways, today and for the future.
He is philanthropic, offering his service free-of-charge to TaxHelp for Older People (TOP) which helps elderly folk on a low income. He also established and runs The Williams Foundation, Phoenix’s active charitable interest.
When not working, Nick loves to spend time with his daughters Hope and Faith, and their numerous pets. He is a keen ‘foodie’ but also enjoys working off the calories through various energetic hobbies.
Steven Mitchell, BSc, AAT
Steven began his accountancy career in 2004 with Henry and Banwell Chartered Accountants in Bristol. Having proved himself ‘through the ranks’ Steven joined Phoenix Accountants in 2017.
A ‘Nailsea Boy’ born and bred, Steven is father to Holly and Ashley.
Tracey Paskell, Office Manager
Tracey, joined Phoenix in 2016. She keeps ‘the boys’ in check and ensures the smooth running of the office and prompt customer service.
Mother to Georgia and Samantha, Tracey’s household also includes Ruby the Staffie. In addition to long ‘walkies’ Tracey is a bit of a gym-bunny, enjoying regular work-outs.
Kirsty North, AAT
Kirsty joined the Phoenix team in June 2019 as accounts assistant, helping to prepare personal and corporate tax returns. This followed a 15-year career with a retail giant.
Kirsty, born and bred on the south-west outskirts of Bristol, is no stranger to hard work, having studied for her AAT qualifications at night school while working full time. Now, as well as working three days each week with Phoenix, she runs around after her young son, Reggie. Very family oriented, her favourite pastime is spending time with her close relatives.
“Phoenix live up to their name: like ashes from the fire they come up with creative, but always legal, ways to obviate the need to pay unnecessary taxes.”
Mike Hannay, founder and director of Force 4 Computing Limited
